Is Christ really coming back some day?
Is Christ really coming back some day?
Answer
In Genesis 3:15, God first gave the promise that some day a savior would redeem mankind from the sin of Adam. The declaration given was:
Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
When God spoke of “thy seed” and “her seed”, it is important to understand who God was speaking to. In this chapter of Genesis God was speaking to the devil. He told him that there would be an ongoing struggle (“enmity”) between the devil (“thy seed”) and those who believed God. He said that some day there would be a seed of the woman - referring to the coming Messiah, that would bruise the head of the serpent or devil. He also said that the devil would bruise the heel of the coming seed. Though the Messiah would be hurt, referring to the bruising of the heel, in the end the head of the devil would be crushed. This prophecy was the first one given concerning the coming of Jesus Christ.
After that prophecy, the first coming of Jesus Christ was the living hope of God’s people. As time passed, God added more and more details regarding the promised seed of the woman. Here are a few examples:
The coming one would be of the tribe of Judah.
Genesis 49:10
The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
He would be of the line of David.
Psalm 132:11
The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.
He would be a prophet like Moses.
Deuteronomy 18:18
I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
He would be the son of God.
Isaiah 4:2
In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.
He would be born in Bethlehem.
Micah 5:2
But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
These are but a few of the prophecies that are recorded regarding the first coming of Jesus Christ. Without a doubt, when Jesus Christ came he fulfilled every single prophecy that was given regarding his coming. If a person is accurate in his prediction of a single future item, we might think that it is simply a coincidence. If that is followed up by a couple of additional accurate predictions, we might suspect that this person has an interesting ability. How about numerous prophecies that have all been accurate to every minute detail? How about numerous predictions without fail? The Word of God, the Bible is a source of inerrant and absolute accuracy. All that the Word of God prophesied would take place by current times has indeed happened with unfailing exactness.
Let’s take note of some additional prophecies regarding Jesus Christ that too have taken place.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of all the prophecies that have come to pass related to the coming, birth and accomplishments of the Lord Jesus Christ. With all of this clear evidence in view, maybe the following scripture is worth believing?
Acts 1:10, 11
And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
