Glory to God in the Highest

When someone makes a colossal mistake, they do not usually expect that anything good can possibly come of it. However, it seems that God specializes in getting man out of the soup so to speak. At the very point of Adam and Eve’s being banished from the garden of Eden for disobedience to God’s commands, God made the solemn promise that he would send a saviour. From that pivotal point in the history of the earth, the great topic of the scriptures was and is that saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Old Testament time and time again makes reference by word and type of the coming of a Messiah that would redeem mankind; a deliverer that would set man free; a saviour that would bring salvation; a son that would open the door of free access to a loving Father. I thought that you might be blessed this holiday season to read some of the prophecies that are recorded in God’s Word concerning the coming of Jesus Christ. It Is Written,

Genesis 3:15 (The first prophecy of his coming)
“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel”

Genesis 49:10 (He would be of the tribe of Judah)
“The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.”

Jeremiah 23:5 (He would be a descendant of David)
“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.”

Micah 5:2 (He would be born in Bethlehem)
“But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.”

Isaiah 7:14 (He would be conceived of a virgin – a young woman)
“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”

Hosea 11:1 (He would go to Egypt and then come back again.)
“When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.”

Isaiah 53:5 (He would die for the sins of mankind and bring peace and deliverance to the world)
“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

Needless to say, even though it is well understood that Jesus Christ was not born in December, he did come and fulfill all that is written in the scriptures concerning him. And yet, did you know that the Bible records that Jesus Christ is coming back? I leave you with the following prophecy from the New Testament,

I Thessalonians 4:16, 17
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

May God bless you richly during this holiday season.
