The prophet Isaiah foretold that the coming Messiah would be exalted, lifted up, and made very high (Isaiah 52:13). This is exactly what has happened with the Lord Jesus Christ. God has highly exalted him to a position that is second only to God. The spiritual blessings that have been given to us come by way of the work of Jesus Christ. This teaching looks at Ephesians 1 and the various references in that chapter to our blessings being “in Christ”. The Body of Christ (us) is referred to as “his” (Christ’s) “fulness”. In the same way that Jesus Christ manifested and declared God to the world, we represent and declare Christ. Christ is all in all. He is in every believer on the face of the earth. This was not possible while he was on earth but because of his exaltation, it is now. When we accept Christ, we are dead and he becomes our real life. We have a new hope, a new purpose. The things of the world should no longer be appealing to us; the heavenly things should take precedence. We should be extremely thankful that we get to be a part of the ongoing plan of God that will find its fulfillment in a future age. Until that time, Christ is all and in all.
