This teaching considers the topic of continuing to grow in our ability to reverence God. The prayer that the Lord Jesus Christ taught his disciples is a fine example of the great reverence and respect that he had for his Father. We should have the same. To grow in our confident relationship with Him should be the center of so much of our thinking. There is no benefit in participating in activities just for the sake of “doing something” or for the sake of following the “precepts of man”. To walk in greater reverence for our Father God is a worthy goal for the life of any believer. God’s direction to the Christian church is to honour Jesus Christ as Lord – this too brings reverence and respect to the one true God. If we do love and respect our Father, our lives then should be examples of this in word, action and thought. We ought not to be encumbered by the trappings of life that would limit our ability to serve Him. As the new year approaches with all the possibilities that it has to offer, we should continue to make a concerted effort to grow in our love, obedience and reverence of God.
