The Word of God is God-breathed and profitable for doctrine, reproof and correction. It equips us to handle any eventuality. This teaching examines the many distractions that may come our way during our lives. Some of these we have no way of controlling, others we may choose to entertain. In all cases, it is the Scriptures that will show us how to handle every challenge. Our work is to recognize the distraction and to deal with it. A distraction may take us away from single-mindely serving God if we let it. On the other hand, if we understand that the best way to handle any distraction is to be prepared by our time in the Scriptures, then we will not allow it to take us away from that valuable time in God’s Word.
Tribulation, Persecution, cares of this life, deceitfulness of riches, specific personal issues (right eye, right hand), your family, a love for this age, your personal needs (food, clothing, shelter), your marriage, business, politics, affairs of this life, sickness, etc. — Some of these you have no control over (persecution, pressure), others you have to deal with on daily basis – but in all cases, they can just be issues that arise that you are able to handle or they can be distractions that move you away from the narrow path, your service to God. And in all cases, it is God’s Word, the Scriptures that prepare you to handle the issues that come your way – whether they are in your control or not.
