Prayer quite often is our request for God’s assistance and intervention in our affairs in times of need. This is not to take away from prayer that is offered in thanksgiving and praise as well. In the cases that prayer is offered in request for assistance, we should be ready to accept God’s solutions to our requests. His counsel and solutions will always be the best. There are numerous instances in God’s Word where there is no way that the people praying could ever have anticipated God’s response. When the people asked Moses to get rid of the deadly serpents, God asked him to make a brass serpent. When a king asked for assistance during a battle, he little expected an angel of God to take care of the enemy. When Paul and Silas were in prison in Philippi, they most likely did not expect an earthquake to be the answer to their prayers. And many other like instances. We ought to be willing to expect God’s solutions to our requests. We have the easy part in prayer : to simply pray and trust Him. He has the harder part but that’s good for He is far more capable then we ever could be.
