This teaching looks at the marvelous atoning work of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice. In the Old Testament there were various types that looked forward to the coming of the Messiah: the serpent made by Moses, the Tabernacle, the Passover, Joseph, etc. Jesus Christ was the fulfillment of all these types that foreshadowed his coming. In the covenant of the Old Testament, God said he would take away all sickness from Israel, however, the atoning work of Jesus Christ has provided even better things for us since he is the mediator of a better covenant built on better promises. By his substitutionary sacrifice he has made even better promises available for God’s people today and that includes complete deliverance from both sin and sickness. His ongoing ministry today allows believers to be saved to the uttermost (to whatever extent required) when we come to him for he ever lives to intercede on our behalf.
