This teaching examines Joseph’s ability to walk by the word of wisdom. It examines the fulfillment of the dreams he had concerning his brothers and family before he was sold into Egypt. It considers key events in his life associated with the information that he had received from God. Information from God is received by word of knowledge; the word of wisdom then provides understanding on how to apply that knowledge. We can gain wonderful understanding and insight into these principles in the life of Joseph:
- He is patient in listening to God
- He does not allow his emotions to improperly apply the information God has given him
- He allows God to tell him when something should be made known to others or not
- He does not allow his desires to corrupt God’s purposes
- He honors God in all his actions and words
- His life is centered on God and not revenge or power
Without a knowledge of the manifestations of the spirit, the Bible is a closed book. It would be hard to understand so much of the record of Joseph without understanding the walk by the spirit of God.
