The Word of God encourages all those who come to Jesus Christ to no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and rose again. Every man, woman and child comes to God because of their need for a savior. Once we have accepted Jesus, the son of God, as our savior, there must come a time when we change our focus from what we need to what we can give. Jesus Christ taught that it is more blessed to give than to receive. If we are to live for him, the emphasis must be on what we can do to serve him and not on our needs. And yet, despite this shift in focus, the Scriptures ensure us that we will be rewarded for our service. There are no bounds to the level and extent of the service that we can do for him. Each member in the Body of Christ has an impact on all others and each member has a specific function. We are encouraged to carry out the function that we have with all of our heart in service to the Lord Jesus Christ.
