Living without fear is rooted in our trust and confidence in God. When David faced Goliath, he did not proclaim his own ability but God’s ability and that his trust in God would deliver him. We are told in the Scriptures that if we want to grow in our trust and confidence of God, the key is to put the Word of God, His commandments in our heart. The end results of seeking the wisdom of God rather than relying on our understanding and ability are multiple: length of days, peace, favour, health and the ability to live without fear. When Jesus Christ was confronted by the devil himself – which is the most evil that anyone can confront – he trusted in the words of his Father. Jesus Christ responded with the Scriptures that were in his heart to deal with a very trying and evil situation. He did not approach it with recklessness or personal pride but with the wisdom that comes from God alone. As Christians we have God as our Father and Jesus Christ as lord. Jesus Christ has been exalted to a position above all other principalities and powers in this age and also in the age to come. All that could possibly cause us fear is under his feet and must bow to his name. Though fears may be all around, nothing will ever separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus.
