God is a God of deliverance. Over the centuries that God has taken care of His people, he has been a God of great deliverance. God’s people have been blessed with deliverance in countless areas of life: sickness and disease, fear, famine, enemies, physical handicaps, mental pressure or stress, calamities, despair, danger, temptations, barenness, poverty and destitution, natural disasters, devil spirits, hopelessness, the wrath to come in the future, etc. – in short, our God is a God of deliverance! This teaching considers a few records that highlight God’s deliverance – and sometimes in ways that those involved could not have imagined. We ought not pre-determine how God will deliver us – we ought to rely on the truth that God will always deliver always His people. Whether the particular issue that we find ourselves in was of our own doing or simply out of the truth that we live in a present evil age, it does not matter, God will still deliver us. Our part in the deliverance is to look to him, seek Him, stay mindful to pray and act on the promises that He has given us. As you study the records in the Scriptures, you will see that Jesus Christ is central to much of the deliverance that God has wrought. It is by way of Jesus Christ that we have already been rescued out of this present evil age. There is no circumstance or situation out of which God cannot deliver us.
