The birth of Jesus Christ was heralded by the promise of joy to the world. It provided an opportunity for the world to accept him as their lord and to always have a reason to live joyfully. Joy itself is not an automatic reality for a believer and it certainly is not based on our circumstances. Joy is rooted in the unchanging realities for the believer: God’s Word, the Lord Jesus Christ and a sure and steadfast hope. Despite what affliction might come our way these unchanging realities allow us to have joy and peace in our lives.
