This third part in the series on the ascension of Christ considers the following topics:
- The ratification of the new covenant by the work of Jesus Christ
- This new and better covenant is based on better promises and Jesus Christ’s work was the surety of this new covenant
- Jesus Christ now has an unchangeable priesthood (after the order of Melchisidek) and provides wholeness for all believers
- The blessings and promises of the new covenant apply to all believers (no longer limited to Israel)
- Sin was passed over in the old covenant due to the promises associated with the coming of the Messiah (set to account later to be paid)
- Under the new covenant, sin is remembered no more for God sees the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ
- The mercy seat (above the ark) was hidden to all except the high priest under the old covenant. Under the new, Jesus Chirst is that mercy seat and has now been made public (all he did was public : his ministry, crucifixion, resurrection, etc.)
- Why did the heavens need cleansing?
- The sanctuary was defiled by the sin of Lucifer and the angels
- The sinless blood of Christ was needed to deal with this
- His atonement dealt with the defiling of both heaven and earth
