This teaching looks at what the Word of God says regarding the heart of a servant. Here are some of the characteristics that are discussed:
- The willingness to do whatever is necessary (Here am I) for the sake of the master
- To do what is asked without necessarily knowing all the reasons
- To be faithful in service day after day
- To be singularly committed (cannot serve two masters)
- To recognize that it is our reasonable service
- To be willing to be in the background
- To put away self so Christ is magnified
- Not seeking to please men
- The putting aside of personal comfort
- Knowing that we belong to another
- To be humble in service
- To be concerned more about the interests of the master than our own
In all of this service, our master, Jesus Christ ensures that we are protected, that our needs met and that we will be rewarded for our faithfulness. He is the best master any servant could ever have.
