When it comes to the Word of God, there are many adjectives that describe its characteristics : quick and powerful, pure, faithful, established in heaven forever, the Wisdom of God, unbreakable and so on to name just a few. Unfortunately, the same adjectives cannot always be used for those who are allowed by God to make that Word known. Should the character, feelings and experiences of those speak God’s Word in any way impact the message that God has intended? Is the singer ever more important than the song? We must always remember that it is God’s Word and not our word. Our responsibility is to speak if faithfully. It is not to adjust the Word in any way because we have not experienced something that God may have promised in His Word. Character flaws, emotions and personal experiences dare never take precedence over the truth of God’s Word. Jesus Christ said of God’s Word – “Thy Word is true”. Singer or the song? Song every time.
