This teaching emphasizes the importance of persevering in standing for God, even when you may be tempted to give up. Instead of fainting in times of adversity, the Scriptures provide wise counsel. We are encouraged to pray instead of fainting, which teaches us that this would be an effective way to handle the pressures of life. In addition to praying for ourselves, we can also pray for each other. Another extremely important truth to keep in mind is the return of Jesus Christ. This hope is what allowed Paul and Company to withstand all the persecutions and challenges that came their way. They knew what was ahead, and this allowed them to persevere. They endeavoured to keep their minds on things not seen: the eternal realities. God’s continual exhortation to His people is to stand, never to faint.
