Supreme Mistake

The origin or genesis of a thing seems to hold supreme importance. Original paintings, for instance, fetch ludicrously high prices at auctions. Many people expend themselves while searching for family roots or history. Countless hours are invested in debates and discussions about the original intent of a book, movie, or piece of music. Millions are spent to restore, re-vamp, resurrect and return to what can then rightly be labeled: THE original.

Why, then, do people neglect the Original Blueprint for living–the Bible–when historic decisions are to be made? The Supreme Court’s ruling to recognize homosexual spouses ignores the Original book on the subject. In all the turmoil surrounding this emotion-charged case, the Supreme Court has turned its back on the Book of Life, preferring instead to set their own standards of right and wrong.

Had any of the parties involved in this case taken the time to investigate the origin of spouse and family, the decision would have been far simpler. Marriage was God’s idea – not man’s. It was God who said that a man and a woman should be joined together in marriage. It was He who set the unique characteristics of a man and a woman to compliment each other in the marriage relationship. It was He who explained how a male and female were to nurture and care for children. Had He wanted to create Adam and Steve, He could have done so. In the interest of continuing the race, He obviously decided against it.

The question here is not one of whether or not people should have rights. No real Bible believing Christian would ever argue against all individuals having the same basic social rights and freedoms. After all, it was God who granted those – not any organization of man’s founding. However, when any special interest group is granted rights and privileges that contradict the laws of God, that is a supreme mistake.

It surprises me that even some of the “religious” factions commenting on this case said only that it defied “established tradition.” Doesn’t anyone have the guts to say that it contradicts the Bible? Or has the word “Bible” become a dirty word in our politically correct society?

I suppose that it would be considered social heresy to state that God just might have the best insight into governing the affairs of people. We couldn’t have people going around quoting scriptures on Parliament Hill like the founders of our country now could we? Nah–we’re too advanced for that, so advanced that we no longer need the wisdom of the ages reflected in our laws.

Thanks to the Supreme Court’s ruling, another sizable chunk has been taking out of the already crumbling foundation of the Canadian family. Given time and like decisions, it’ll be difficult to find the original, even at an auction.
