When Jesus Christ was raised from the dead, the Bible says that he received a new body. You can read various records in the Bible where he appeared in this new body to get some indication of what this new body could do. Once he was speaking with a couple of men on the road to Emmaus and they did not recognize him. When he started to eat supper with them, all of a sudden they knew who he was and then he vanished out of their sight!
On another occasion when he appeared to the apostles, he was able to show them the nail prints in his hands and the spear mark in his side – even though he was resurrected with a totally new spiritual body. In other sections you can read where he was able to ascend to God and then back to earth again. These are just a few features of the new body that God had given to him. You might say, “Well, that’s wonderful – after all, he is the Son of God.” But, did you know that you too can have that same body some day?
Philippians 3:20, 21
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. [ESV]
The Scriptures tell us that we are waiting for the return of Jesus Christ from heaven. When he comes back, we are told that we will get a new body like his glorious body! Now there’s an amazing promise from the Scriptures. All the issues that you may have to deal with in the body that you currently have will no longer be a problem when you are given a body like his glorious body. Isn’t that a wonderful promise to look forward to?
There are, however, two requirements that you must fulfill if you actually want to get this new body. These requirements have nothing to do with how good you are or even how much you may or may not have done for humanity. They certainly have nothing to do with what church you belong to. No, it is much simpler than that. Here are the simple requirements.
Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [KJV]
The two simple requirements are:
(1) that you confess with your mouth Jesus as lord and
(2) that you believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead.
When you fulfill these two simple requirements, the Bible says that you are saved, you are born again and that you have eternal life. At that moment you become a citizen of heaven – and guess what? You are then waiting for Jesus Christ to return and when he does, he will transform your lowly body into a new glorious body just like his! Even if he returns after you have passed away in this life, you will get this new and glorious body just as soon as he returns to the earth to gather his church. There are numerous videos on the bibleharbor website that speak about this great event in more detail.
