Will Hitler Be In Heaven?

Adolph Hitler is sometimes used as the template for a human that is the epitome of evil – and rightfully so, considering the depth of evil that he perpetrated in the world. It might seem rather in poor taste then to consider the question, “Will Hitler Be In Heaven?”

I suspect that no one would find it surprising were most people to answer this question by saying “Absolutely not!” Or “there is no way in hell that could ever happen!”. However, at BibleHarbor our concern is not how people may feel about something or what they might want to be true – our one and only concern is “what do the Scriptures say?”.

To consider this question then it would be better for us to first of all check what the Bible says about salvation.

Romans 10:9
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. [ESV]

So here we are told about the simple way in which anyone can be saved: confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Very clear and very simple. When you do this you are saved – the Bible also calls this being born again or born from above. There are several videos on our website that consider this in greater detail. Note what I Peter says about being born again.

I Peter 1:23
Since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God. [ESV]

Once you are saved, or born again, you have the imperishable seed of the new birth – that is, there is no way for you to lose the new birth, there is no way to lose eternal life. And this makes perfect sense because you did not nothing to deserve it in the first place – it was made possible by what Jesus Christ did.

So, to now consider our question regarding Adolph Hitler, the simple and biblical answer is this: if he made Jesus his lord and believed in his heart that God has raised him from the dead, then according to the Scriptures, he will have eternal life. Note that there is no age limit mentioned here as to when anyone makes this confession. It is something that a person can do at a very young age. On the other hand, if he did not make this confession, than he will not have eternal life, and will not be in heaven.

Salvation was made possible to all mankind by the work of Jesus Christ.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [ESV]

God gave the life of his son so that “whoever” believes in him could have eternal life. Whoever means just that, “Whoever”. There are no restrictions of age, ethnicity, social standing or anything else. It is a free and open offer to all of mankind. So if Hitler or any other human being in the centuries that have passed since the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ have taken God up on his offer, then they will not perish but will have eternal life. If they have not taken him up on this offer, then they will not have eternal life. This is not only true for a man like Hitler, but for everyone else for that matter.
