There’s one thing about being sick or injured that makes it extremely difficult to think about anything else : the pain. And it is that one element that makes it difficult to be healed. A broken or missing limb, a bruised bone, a runny nose, a debilitating disease – whatever the symptoms – the simple fact is that they are always in our face. This can prevent us from keeping our mind on where it should be.
In the Book of Isaiah, the Bible declares that a Saviour would come some day and that he would take the sins and sicknesses of the world upon himself. As you may be well aware, Isaiah was speaking about the coming of Jesus Christ. Isaiah writes,
Isaiah 53:1
“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
Many accept the truth that Jesus Christ took the sins of the world upon himself but few realize that he also took the sicknesses and diseases. Isaiah was writing about a time in the future when the Saviour would accomplish this. In the New Testament, we have the following truth written in the past tense:
I Peter 2:24
“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”
Healing for the Christian believer has been accomplished. It is as big a part of the salvation as the forgiveness of sins. When anyone makes Jesus their Lord and believes that God raised him from the dead, they have immediate access to total deliverance. So why is it that you do not see all Christians enjoying the healing that has already been accomplished?
There are two very simple answers to this question: first, they do not know that this is possible, and second, the pain is more real to them than the Word of God. Once a believer is taught the simple truth, that by the stripes of Jesus Christ he or she has been healed, the next step is to believe it. The truth of scripture must become more real to them than the pain. The very moment that a person accepts the truth that their sickness and diseases were laid on the Lord Jesus Christ, they can be instantly healed. The pain will go. The pain must obey the authority of God’s Word.
Step up to the plate today. Don’t sit there and wait any longer. Your deliverance has absolutely nothing to do with how good or holy you are for it is the Lord Jesus Christ who has made you worthy. It has nothing to do with how much you pray or how many churches you attend. It has nothing to do with how much money you give to a church. The only thing you need to do is to accept what Jesus Christ has already done for you. You are healed now. Don’t let anyone or anything talk you out of the truth of God’s Word. Walk up to the throne of God’s mercy and grace and thank Him for the deliverance. You are healed now.
